MINI prepares a sedan 4 doors and a crossover blend of Coupe, MPV and SUV

The Paceman will be, obviously, a variant of the Clubman-style 4-door.

Apparently, one of the readers of Motoring File, a blog about everything that has to do with MINI, is usually inside information on future plans of MINI, as where is the mark, what are preparing, etc. Sometimes, it is that reason and others, it has not. For the simple reason that such a model or this concept car, they were not finally approved and never will be.

A few days ago, you had here possible future plans of MINI, some of which confirmed by Harald Kreuger, Member of the Executive of MINI. Today, we explain what has a worker on an anonymous basis. And as he speaks of the engineers, you would be a designer brand.

MINI plans would be a version of the BMW Active Tourer, a MINI 4-door (i.e. a sedan), a MINI Activity Tourer (a Paceman's 5 doors) and a new generation of MINI Coupe and Roadster. Then they we explain you in more detail.

According to "Herr26", is the pseudonym of Motoring File source, the next concept car featuring MINI is the Traveller, a MINI variant of the concept car BMW Active Tourer. The Traveller will have all the appearance of a MINI, with its characteristic front and doors in the style of the Clubman. But will also have a kind of sofa in the back seats "to the Rolls-Royce", writes Herr26. The next concept car featuring MINI will be the Traveller, a MINI variant of the concept car BMW Active Tourer

As to the MINI sedan, Herr26 confirms that they are still in the initial phase of the models. Although a priori, seems an incongruity more dictated by the market (or by the people of marketing that creates demand by offering the product?), however in his day already existed a body of three volumes of the Mini Riley Elf. In this case it was a two door, but Herr26 places it in the category of the series 6 Grand Coupe, i.e. 4 doors.

Riley Elf Mini basis would give legitimacy to a MINI sedan.

But it could be a model that does not see the light of day, would come into direct competition with the variant 4-door series 2. This would be the Coupe of current 1 series (F20), and substitute for the series 1 Coupe that is still for sale (E82). Herr26 notes, Furthermore, that the idea of a rival of the CLA Mercedes with front-wheel drive would counterproductive, hence can favor series 2 of 4-door (with rear-wheel drive) and not the MINI (front wheel drive).

One of the most ambitious projects described by the informant is that they would work on the squaring of the circle. And Family Activity Sports Tourer, or FAST (ahem...) would be a crossover that would have "the appearance of a [i.e., the SUV of BMW/MINI] SAV, the feeling of space aboard the minivan and the load capacity of the Touring and can add a touch of Coupe by the dynamic shape of its lagging behind", explains Herr26. Yes with optional four-wheel series would be a front-wheel drive. The idea is interesting and is a challenge for designers, there is no doubt.

Another project that we can give by nearly valid, probably in small series or limited series, will be the MINI Activity Tourer. This is very simple, a MINI Paceman added two doors to the MINI Cubman and we have a new model. In a certain way, would be the particular vision of the BMW X 6 in MINI key.

Of course, working also in substitutes the current MINI Coupe, Roadster and Clubman, but "with a more direct and communicative, dynamic behavior to the BMW", according to Herr26.
