Dahiatsu, mark disappeared from Europe, and owned by Toyota has just presented a concept car at the Indonesian Motor Show, the d-r, an evolution of the d Concept seen in the Hall of Tokyo in 2011.
Normally, Dahiatsu is not a brand that arouse passions and is not sold in Europe. However, it was sold in Europe and had a curious range in which highlighted the Copen. It's a tiny Coupe-Cabriolet (a kei-car with engine 660 cc turbo, in Japan) in Spain was only sold in the Canary Islands. Nice appearance, its engine was not a monster of power (was a simple 1.3 liters), but enough for a car so small.
The d-r foreshadows the future Copen. The d-r features interchangeable body panels, in the style of the Smart, and aboard large LCD screen makes the functions of instrument panel. In terms of design, the d-r is much more aggressive than the current Copen and their retro aires.
